It had to come. We are now proceeding the end of the academic year, and things are getting tougher. This is the two months who will decide if I'm good enough to be enrolled to the second year. I have to work harder. Read more. Read even more than that! I have plans to reread everything I've read in the subjects we are gonna have exams in this spring. If I got time!
For histology I have to finish the embryology. Luckily I passed the embryology I credit test (most of my class actually failed it..), and there is one more. Then I just have to pass my minitests and the last slide-test; because I don't have to take the credit test then. And I can decide myself when to take the exam (with a few limitations).
For anatomy I have to hand in my essay in special dissection on monday. It's nearly finished. I just have to make some adjustments and make a simple scheme which have to follow the essay. My essay is about the obturator nerve, by the way. Then I have to make my minitests (again) and the CNS-credit. The exam is HUGE, and the material I have to read is some thousand pages.
Latin is an another story (you did read my Latin-post earlier?). I probably failed the credit last week (I focused on the embryotest instead..) But give me a couple of weeks, and I'll be able to decline corpus alienum in all 5 cases in both singular and plural.. And all the terminology and rules for comparative adjectives... If I can make the credit, I can make the exam.
Then I have to do a couple of credits; biology (I have to have my lab-booklet controlled and accepted, and pass a test which will be held in the end of this month) I also had to hand in a lab-report last week.
The other credit is czech language, I feel I somehow got control on it; I have to take the reading part, the medical vocabulary credit and MAYBE the grammar credit. Time will show!
And then, suddently, we are in the exam period. The period of reading, overdose of coffee, nervous breakedowns and failed trials on the exams. And if lucky; passing an exam from time to other..
The only thing I actually is finished with, is the first aid. Hurray!!

Flu, yeast and paramecium.
I hate having the flu. Coughing, sneezing, fever, head ache, sore throat, runny nose.. And the school continues with all the tests, lectures and practicals. I just have to scare myself up from the bed and hope that I might will survive the day (I have done it so far). Today, 5-6 of my classmates, our professor and I had the same problem. Unwanted viruses visiting our bodies. It didn't help much that the very same professor sent one of our "good" classmates home with the flu last week. He managed to infect us all. Thanks a lot!!!Thus, this have, so far, been a very boring week. I hope to get better soon. Hopefully during this afternoon, please. I need to read. Typically me! Ahhhrg!
I murdered a whole colony of innocent creatures today. The where living happily in a tiny drop of water, feasting on some yeast cells.. And I killed them, coldblooded. I think my biologyprofessor liked my actions against them. The creatures is called paramecium, and look like shoes. They are one-celled organisms with cilia. And the cilias was the objectives of today laboratory cl
ass in biology. The killing is a sideeffect; paramecium doesn't survive for long if they are exposured to light, which is an important feature of the light microscope. As our dear professor presentet it; objectives today is to study the paramecium's cilia. An extra entertaniment bonus is that you're gonna see organisms die in real time, without risking any punishment. This is not something you kan do later on in your studies; not with lab animals, and of course not with patients! Of course, you will se people die, but not because you killed them, and not as an entertainment bonus..I kind of like our professor...

Good friends and hard work.
I and some of my good friends in my class had a very nice discussion yesterday. We are concerned of each other, and really tries to help eachother out with our subjects. I really love the thougth that they will notice if I'm not present at a lecture or practical. It make me feel very safe.
We started a new subject today btw; biology. It took me some time to realize how to do it when we was asked to draw what we saw in the oculars. But I got it now.
I've cleaned my entire apartement today, and will soon go to bed.. just for a little nap. I have to do it some days. Then I'll grab some dinner, go to Educational Center and read until they close the center. This is my everyday life during the semester.
The photo is from my faculty's home page (www.lfhk.cuni.cz), showing the brand new edudcational center at the university hospital.
