New semester, new possibilites!
My final in microbiology is completed, and I'm waiting for my results any day now. It felt very good after this one, despite I had to leave three questions open. One of them was anyway about pharmacology, not microbes, so I'm not that sad..
Anyway, some fun facts about this spring semester: I've taken up speaking czech again. I have forgotten most of it, it seems, but I remember enough to make me self understood by one of our new international students in class; Lucie from Brno! We are also in the same casegroup, thus I'll be able to practice a little czech every now and then this coming 5 months.
Subject for this semester is by the way pathology, a step further from our basis in anatomy, histology, physiology and microbiology. We will be digging us down in diseases, patient tests, symptoms and death. I'm really looking forward to know to learn about all this!
This weekend has been quite good at the personal level. I got my laundry machine on friday, no more laundry drama in the basement for me! Due to the arrival of this gigant machine (my bathroom is only 145x155 cm, the machine 60x60) I had to do some redecoration of my bath. A new shower curtain and some new towelhooks are bought and on the way to be installed. I'm also working on my 1 year old plan of painting the bathroom door.. Hopefully it will be done.. sometime! And then, finally, I went skiing with my brand new skies today. The snow was perfekt, the temperature was perfekt.. and it felt good! 5 kilometer is not much, but it is a good start for me.
Tomorrow I'll start revicing my old ECG-labs from HK, thus on tuesday we will have an ECG-lab.. :)

Why I bought my own apartement
There is a lot of students in Umeå. About 30 000 to be quite exact. Most students lives in student homes and corridors the first period of the studies, maybe during the whole education. It is, of course a quite cheap, convenient and easy way to live, if the corridor mates are okay.
But there may be some things a student have to considerate before leaving his or her home for becoming a student. One of them is the ratio between corridor parties and reading required for the finals (or worse, you trying to read when your neighboroughs are partying). One other is the possibillity of corridor mates stealing food and soap from your cupboard. But of course, you might end in the friendly hippie corridor where my stuff is your stuff, with common dinners every weekend and movies every once in a while.
I didn't take any chance, I need to have a place for myself when I read. And I have to read a lot, beeing a medical student, of course. I could have applied for an another corridor until i found the happy hippie corridor, of course, but I like having a place I may redecorate as I like myself. But this blog post is actually not about me, but a way to make some simple corridor solutions.
A classmate of me had to move out of her first corridor after a big fight, her neighboroughs wasn't that.. eh.. safe. The next corridor seemed better, but after a while and quite a lot of angry notes, she realized that her corridor mates was thiefly and unhonest. So how to make them stay away from her food in the refrigator? Well, she gave it a thought, then she baked a full bodied creamy chocolate cake with a lot of frosting.. Heavy chocolate bar frosting. Then she cut the cake in two halves, and put one of them in her spot in the refrigator. This she actually did last night. Today she checked her refrigator, the cake was absolutely absent. After making herself breakfast and lunsh, she went to the exam hall (we had our finals today, yay!) laughing. She is very curious about the state of her corridor mates today. Why? Well.. This very smart and clever medical student added an extra ingredient to the heavy frosting: a bottle of laxatives.
Have a nice summer, and stay away from the food of your medical student friends, unless you're allowed to take..

Back to the reality.
Dear friends!
I'm now back in the beautiful Czech Republic (yes, the country is beautiful). I've had a nice day today, took my czech credit. 47 points of 50 possible points. That's a very good result, equivalent to the mark "1-exellent". It's almost perfect! I have my last final tomorrow, oral biophysics and statistics.
And I decided to move out from my "palace" next month. I'll move to an another part of the city, and live together with my swedish classmate, Ayan. I'm looking forward to a cheaper rent, and a flatmate!
The photo is taken by me in july 2007. It's from the old town/square of Hradec Králové, quite near my residence at the moment. The picture is taken with a Nikon D80, but is scaled down a lot.
