Latin, latin, latin, latin, latin, latin...
...ahhhrgh!! I hate latin at the moment. Scatula specierum urologicarum - box of urologic teas. Vulnus lacerum - torn wound, vulnera lacera - torn wounds. In venam cavam - into the hollow vein. Ramus cruris sinistri - branch of left lower leg. Multigravida - woman pregnant more times. Spasmus musculi linguae - spasm of muscles of tongue. And this is just the very start of my list.

Prosím, vidite, kde je Ulrichovo naměsti?
I was walking in the streets of Hradec Králové a couple of days ago, when a smiling lady approached me. She asked me a question. In czech. "Excuse me, do you know where Ulrichovo sqare is?" There are a lot of people asking me questions for directions here. And I try to answer. They sometimes get very confused after a couple of sentences. I don't speak that much czech yet, and tend to do some quite funny mistakes. But this lady didn't even lift her eyebrow when I started my explanation. I hope she found Ulrichovo sqare. It was blizko (near) anyway.
Yesterday ANSA (Association of Norwegian Students Abroad) HK had the big Pub Quiz final. My team won yesterdays competition, and by that climbed to a 2. place in the cup. Yay! Champagne and big celebration! Go Hissige Rips!
This was anyway my last part of my social life this semester. From now I will only read for credits and finals. And, when speaking of credits and tests.. I had my dissection evaluation today. My professor asked me about the muscles of the neck;
sternocleidomastoid, inferior hyoids (the strap muscles, it's four of them), superior hyoids (four of them too) and scalene muscles. The questioning included innervation of the different muscles (including the mandibular nerve V3, facial nerve VII, C1 following hypoglossal nerve XII, accessory nerve XI and ansa cervicalis C1-C3). I was really nervous before and under the examination, but my professor gave me a 2 (very good). This is the first test I have passed after the accident. I also got the list over what to do to obtain my credit in anatomy. I don't have to redo any minitest, I passed with minimal margin... I just have to do the CNS-test and then go for my final. Both will be done in september.
Czech Republic is at the moment showing off her best side; warm days with lots of sunlight, chilled nights with birds singing. The restaurants have put up their outdoor pavillions and people are smiling a lot. Me too. Only one month left before I take my summer holyday (or should we say reading period at home?). I sometimes love this country.

Everything sorts out now.
As you know, I'm back in business. Have attended my classes and reads for my finals. My teachers have been so understanding and great! I still got headache and problems with my consentration, but it slowly heals.
In anatomy, have my professor given me time to read for the CNS-test so I can take it whenever I feel ready. I just have to go for the dissection test on friday. I will be allowed to go for extra practicals in august and september before my credit and final exam.
In biology I just need to take one credit test. All I have to do is to read for it. And then send an e-mail to the departement when I'm ready. Then they'll give me the test.
In czech language I have to do three credits; one reading task, one grammar part and one in medical terminology. I can take these in september. I will go for an consultation in the end of june to go through the new stuff I missed when I was away. One of my co-students will provide me with all tasks we where given in that period, another one have promised me copies of all hand-outs given from the teacher. What to say? My classmates are great!
Latin; I didn't miss anything. I just have to pass my credit and then exam. I will try to do my credit 3rd of june. Hopefully, I'll pass. If not, I got one more chanse.
Histology, my favourite! This is not the easiest subject, but I really like it. I have to go and talk to the professor next week, so we can make a plan togehter. I won't go for the embryology retest next week, it's to early with both the anatomy test, last czech class and latin credit. I probably have to do a couple of essays, one slidetest and of course the embryotest to obtain my credit. Then it is exam. I hope to pass my exam in june.
I also do one elective course in special histology too. I'll get my creditpoint if I write two separate essays (3 pages each) and deliever it to the histo departement within the end of september.
Togheter with all this, our Dean have promised to support me if I get into any trouble with my professors. But they all seems so understanding and nice to me.
There is a lot to say about the czech educational system; they won't pass you if you're not good enough. But if somethings happends outside your control, they'll do a lot to help you through.
I still hope and believe I can pass my first year.

Constitution day
HURRAY!!!
A group of norwegian students gathered in the park yesterday. With flags, balloons, flutes and food.. All associated norwegians was warmly welcomed too.
After a couple of hours of games (the photo showing the traditional "bag run"), champagne and small talk, did we lit up the bbq.. Ohh.. just one problem.. Who did actually plan this part? No grills. No fire. A round of discussion, and two of the ANSA-guys decided to go and buy grills.. Problem solved!
We had a great time in the park, and luckily, the rain started to pour down after the BBQ-session.. Most of us came home dry (but not me).
Later on we all met in the restaurant at Grand Hotel for dinner. The decoration was beautiful with norwegian flags and tablecloths, but the system of ordering food was not perfect. I was not satisfied. Not SiljeCam either; she waited 3 hours and 15 minutes from she arrived to she got her food... Not the first time we have had problems with the restaurant's capasity when ordering table for more than 3o persons. But the food was nice and the party excellent!
The 17. of may is the norwegian national day. A celebration of our constitution. In Norway we celebrate with a huge children's parade and by showing off our beautiful national costumes. :)

It's good to be back!
Today was my first day at school after the accident. It was really nice! Forgot about half of what I was supposed to do, but there will be more days. The teachers have been very nice to me, and I'm allowed to take my credits and exams whenever I feel ready to do it, with no need to follow the regular exams dates provided. Did I say that I now am really happy that I chosed the Medical Faculty of Hradec Králové?
My classmates and the rest of the international students gave me a warm welcoming! Some of them got some really nice lecture notes I can borrow, some of the others will provide me help of any kind if I need (so they say!). I feel safe and well taken care of! My parents will come to Hradec tomorrow, I'm looking forward to it.
I went back to the site of the accident yesterday, and took some photos (click on the photo to get a bigger version). When I was there, a new accident happend! There was a big crashing sound, and two cars was smashed togheter. One of the cars (the one in the middle of the photo) was a drivingschool-car... As you can see, it's standing in the middle of the road, and there is glass and other debrises on the road behind the car. Luckily, no one was hurt this time.
The zebrastripes to the left is the very one I tried to cross 3,5 weeks ago. The cyclist in red jacket has his front wheel placed on the sewer cover on where I landed... And the distance? Approximately 15 meters. I still feel I'm lucky to be alive.
There is only one thing to say. Czech people and cars is a total mismatch.

Ready to rock!
Ohhh! It's a bit boring now. Good! That means that I'm ready to return to my studies! I have to do everything slowly, but at least, I feel ready!
My sister came from Trondheim today, to visit me and my parents this weekend. Hopefully, my brother and his family will come over too..
My plans are to read a bit histology and anatomy, and maybe do my czech homework (domaci ukol) we were given the week before the accident.. The rest must wait a bit more.
And then one of my schoolmates from primary school is getting married this summer. In Cyprus! She gave me a invitation today. The seremony will be in end of august/beginning of september, and with a bit planning it might be possible to go!
